Karangahape Road Enhancement
Karangahape Road is a colourful hub and popular destination, and one of the busiest roads in the region. This enhancement represents a joint project between Council and Auckland Transport that aims to preserve the road’s unique character, while creating a street environment that supports the local community and meets the needs of a growing population.
Extending the colour of Karangahape through considered infrastructure and design. 
The scope of works consisted of the following:
Widening footpaths to create more space for pedestrians and improve walkability.
Installing cycleways in both directions to connect with existing and planned cycling networks.
Installation of new bus shelters on motorway overbridge
Construction of new raised speedtables on side streets
Providing additional bike parking, improved lighting, and new street furniture
Introducing peak-hour bus lanes to improve the reliability and efficiency of public transport.
Enhancing the streetscape and stormwater system with rain gardens, landscaping, and the planting of trees and native vegetation.
