To improve safety at the busiest train crossing in the country, the existing level crossing connecting Sarawia Street and Laxon Terrace was removed and replaced with a new bridge, linking Laxon Terrace with nearby Cowie Street.
Scope included:
- Bridge construction with significant deep earthworks and piling
- Two-lane road access into and out of Laxon Terrace, with textured road surfaces, and chicanes
- Directed LED lighting along the new bridge and road to ensure a well-lit environment
- Tree pits and vegetated swale to treat stormwater run-off
